Beginning at the early age of two, he underwent several surgeries in an attempt to help him with the walking process. He was placed in braces and on crutches at the age of five with no hope of walking without them.
In May of 1974, Robert was carried by a church van to a Pentecostal revival. On that Sunday morning he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. That very night, Robert experienced Jesus as The Great Physician. Putting his crutches aside, he began walking only with the assistance of Jesus at his side.
Robert accepted the call to ministry as an eleven year old boy and preached his first revival Easter week of 1975. In 1986, Robert entered into full-time evangelism and has traveled internationally to several foreign countries sharing the gospel of Jesus. His desire to minister to hurting people is equaled only by his strong message of the saving and healing power of Jesus Christ. Robert travels across America with his wife Lynn, who is a dynamic singer. Holding up the blood-stained banner, Robert Mays is truly a walking testimony to the healing and delivering power of God.
Robert also serves as the General Brotherhood President of the Congregational Holiness Church in Griffin, Georgia.
